▶Subscribe my channel, get the latest recipes ◀ ‣‣ / @teabreakcuisine ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Sago cakes, also called Sago Crystal Cake, are traditional Chinese pastries, which can usually be found in old Chinese bakery. But now it’s getting harder and harder to find them, to relive the nostalgia and eat delicate Chinese pastries and Dim Sum. So I cook the simple Red Bean Sago Cake this time. It has a clear and crystal like appearance with fresh and light sweet taste and tenderly chewy texture. The red bean paste can be replaced by sweet potato paste, taro paste or other flavors to share different Chinese traditional taste. 🍽Quantity: 8 pieces 🧂Ingredients: Sago Crust: 150g Sago 2 tbsp. Custer Sugar 1.5 tbsp. Oil Filling: 90g Red Beans 1.5 tbsp. Oil A little Salt 1.5 tbsp. Brown Sugar 1 tbsp. Maltose 👨🏼🍳Step: 1) Wash the red beans, and soak them in water for a night, to make the cooking time shorter. (If cooking on same day, soak the red beans in warm water for 2 hours) 2) Pour the red beans and water in a pot, and simmer it with low heat for an hour until the beans soft. 3) Sift the red beans and filtered out residue, in order to make the texture of paste softer. 4) Add oil and red bean paste in pan, and stir fry it for 5 minutes on low heat, then add brown sugar, maltose and salt to the paste, and stir fry it until they are dissolved. 5) Wash the sago and soak them in water for 5 minutes. 6) Picked up the sago after drain, then add custer sugar and oil to it and mix well. 7) Spread oil on the moulds, and add sago into it to half full, then add some red bean paste filling in the middle, and add sago to fill the top and flatten it. 8) Put the cake in a pot, and steam it with high heat for 10 minutes, then turn off the heat and bake for 5 minutes to make the sago transparent.
