@Yamm7 asked me about my lathe. Here is a quick video on the lathe I built. I used a 1750RPM 1/2HP capacitor start motor running into a Boston Gear 10:1 reducer. It might could use a higher HP motor, but that's what I had :-). The pullies are set to adjust the output RPM of the shaft. The belt can be shortened or lengthened based on need. The pulley on the keyed shaft is adjustable as well, it can be loosened, moved along the shaft and tightened down. I have calculated the RPM of each possible setting so that I can set the RPM based on the diameter and material (B8, B20..) I am cutting. Speed control is versatile. I made the cutting tool by drilling holes and welding nuts on square tubing. The cutting tool bits are made from machinist lathe bits that I affix into each end of the square tubing, each end has a cutter, so I can flip it and alternate between 2 cutting bits without having to stop. Pillow blocks, keyed shaft, keyway, couplers, angle iron, threaded end (where the cymbal bolts on) and other various hardware was also used in the construction of the lathe. There has been some recent minor adjustments to the lathe for ease of usability. Hope this video has been useful! #cymbals
