A huge afternoon at the AESSEAL New York Stadium as 23rd placed Rotherham United hosted 18th placed Doncaster Rovers with just five points separating the two sides coming into this massive South Yorkshire Derby. Before kick-off, I caught up with Doncaster fan Adam, who was calm, composed and quietly confident that Rovers would get the result today. Derby nerves? Not from him. He felt momentum was with Doncaster. As the Doncaster fans arrived, the atmosphere instantly intensified. You could feel what this meant: noise levels rising, tension building, both sets of supporters fully up for it. WHAT. A. START. Rotherham came flying out of the blocks and inside 20 seconds won a penalty! Absolute chaos in the opening moments. The Millers stepped up… and scored! 1-0 almost instantly! The home end erupted and suddenly Rotherham were playing with real confidence, the fans rallying behind their team in full voice. Doncaster slowly grew into the game as the half went on, enjoying more possession and finding space in wide areas but they went into the break 1-0 down. Second Half – Momentum Swing Doncaster started the second half on the front foot. After another penalty appeal for Rotherham was waved away, the visitors broke down the left. The ball was delivered into the near post where Brandon Hanlan was perfectly positioned to tap home. 1-1! Away end scenes! The equaliser knocked the wind out of Rotherham. Their energy dipped. The crowd turned anxious. Then came the moment that changed everything. On 68 minutes, Cameron Dawson came racing out of his goal to control and clear… but Luke Molyneux intercepted, took the ball in stride and calmly placed it into the empty net. 1-2! Doncaster delirium. Rotherham fury. The mood inside the stadium shifted dramatically. Frustrations from the home support began turning toward manager Matt Hamshaw as the derby atmosphere edged toward hostility. Doncaster managed the game well in the closing stages and held on for a huge three points. A massive result in the relegation battle. A derby turnaround. And serious questions now being asked at Rotherham. Is this the end for Matt Hamshaw? Let me know your thoughts in the comments 👇 Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/toplissatthe...
