In the mid-1990's the Sky Coaster had become a big hit in Amusement Parks around the world. Given these were slow loading and low capacity along with the fact they needed alot of air space they didn't suit fairgrounds. After Fabbri had a big success with the Mega Drop in 1998, followed by the Booster in 2001 they were looking for another extreme ride concept For that inspiration they looked towards the Sky Coaster concept and thought how do we make that transportable? The answer was a central tower on a trailer with a solid swinging arm rather than cables. at the end of the arm would be a Booster style seat seating 4 riders this would get winched to the top by a lifting arm to a height of 125 feet. Once at the top the arm would be release with the riders dropping in freefall at speeds of up to 60mph The arm would then swing until the momentum ran out - there as also a magnetic brake to slow the swing down towards the end of the ride. The Air Diver was quicker at loading and could do a ride quicker and was more compact than the Sky Coaster but ultimately it was not a big seller with 3 trailer versions and a park version being sold. The only Air Diver still known to be operating is at a Luna Park in France.
