“Where your treasure is, there is your heart.” Today we honor Saint Edward the Confessor, the last of the Anglo-Saxon kings and one of England’s most beloved saints. Known for his deep holiness, King Edward built Westminster Abbey — a lasting symbol of faith and devotion. In this reflection, we remember Saint Edward’s example of how the Church and State once worked hand-in-hand to glorify God and serve the people. His reign shows the harmony of faith and governance before the tragic separation that began with the Protestant Reformation. For nearly a thousand years, England flourished under Catholic faith, nourished by the prayers and works of monasteries that cared for the poor and elevated the spiritual life of the nation.
