Anker USB C to 3.5mm Headphone Adapter Review & Mic Recording Tests

Review of the Anker USB Type C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter with a focus on microphone recording sound tests. The adapter is nice & compact, and feels durable, with a good build quality. There was a small amount of background hiss when I hooked it up to my wired earbuds, and it had a good frequency range & had enough bass when playing back music and podcasts. When you hook up a mic, the signal that's recorded has a good frequency range, and a small amount of hiss on a Galaxy S9. You can see this in the spectrogram view in Audacity, which is shown in the review. Interestingly the S21 Ultra has no hiss, so USB interfaces on the phone seem to vary. On the S9, the audio needed a +8dB gain adjustment to bring it in line with the 3.5mm jack, and on the S21 Ultra (which records with much higher gain by default), it needed reducing by -6dB. Overall, it's a nicely designed product, and I can recommend it for audio playback, as well as recording via a wired mic.
