The Smashing Pumpkins perform Beguiled during their set in Newcastle, NSW - the second last stop on their The World Is A Vampire Festival tour of Australia. And heckin’ heck did Aussies love the whole thing. ATUM is an incredible Rock Opera in Three Acts, and has just recently been released (5th May,2023) The album is a sequel to previous concept albums Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness & Machina/The Machines of God. The narrative tale behind the expansive concept work can be heard on the “Thirty-Three” podcast with William Patrick Corgan, and a brief, but well written text version is in the cd liner notes. The music easily stands on its own, but the album really is a cohesive work, so dipping your toe into the narrative really pays off. Felt like posting this and Empires to celebrate the album release and to give people a little tidbit to taste of the incredible things coming their way on the North American tour later in 2023. Hope you enjoy. —————————- Am already a smidge jealous of all the ATUM tracks that might be played in the coming few months acrss the northern hemisphere. Coincidentally, Newcastle is one of the very best cities in Australia even though it’s just a big town and only has two things - beaches and cafes. You have to admit though, Newy knows how to brunch. And if you meet up for a long lunch… that is your entire day allocated to great food, company, sunshine and stunning views Brisbane doesn’t even know what Brunch is. Sydney is too busy to brunch And Melbourne possibly brunches but no one cares. And if they did brunch, they would have to tell everyone in excruciating detail about it for three weeks after.
