This combination created very slick roadways around town and numerous accidents occurred. Some highways even had to be shut down temporarily due to multiple vehicle accidents. A winter storm warning is in effect for the area until 6:00pm. Shot List 1-2) A black truck fish tales after hitting an icy bridge, but luckily regains control and did not hit the highway patrol motor assist vehicle that was warning motorists of an accident ahead. 3) A Kansas Highway Patrol officer gestures at the truck as he was further ahead and saw the truck loose control. He was on the scene of an accident where a car had lost control on the icy bridge and took out a light pole and fence. 4) Trooper on the scene of the downed light pole. He was awaiting a KDOT truck (snow plow) to come and push the light pole completely off of interstate 235 so other vehicles would not run over it. 5-7) Shots of the car that lost control, took out a light pole, slide down the hill, and took out a fence. 8-13) A accident scene that the Sedgwick County Sherriff's department was working where two vehicles got into a head on collision and the road was temporarily closed while the officers worked the accident scene. 14) K-96 eastbound lanes closed at Hillside due to a multiple vehicle accident ahead. 15-17) Accident scene along K-96 near Hillside, that was temporarily closed to eastbound lanes until all the vehicles could be cleared from the highway. 18-20) A semi truck that slid off into deep snow along K-96 near rock road. It was blocking the inside lane of westbound traffic and troopers were on scene until a tow truck could arrive and clear the lane of traffic.
