In this guide I discuss playstyles that I use and have seen from other Shulk mains, as well as the effects of each Monado Art. 00:00 For a general overview, Shulk has two main playstyles: An aggressive one, which rewards the player with quicker and flashier gameplay, but still needing to space properly and attack with caution. And a more defensive one, having the player hold back on pressure to bait the opponent to come in or make mistakes. Though this style is less exciting, it is safer and easier to do, making it ideal for players still trying to learn or get the hang of Shulk's abilities. 1:42 Shulk also has the five Monado Arts, which aid in battle to help turn tides and give him many mix-up options throughout a match when needed. What you can and can't do are limited to whatever art Shulk has on; even not having any art on has it's advantages and disadvantages, due to Shulk's playstyles changing within each art. Be sure to experiment and find creative ways to use each one. It's also best to learn non-art Shulk(vanilla) first in order to get a feel of his moveset and options. 2:44 Art scolling/cycling method: Press the Neutral Special button continuously. The art brought up will automatically activate, unless the button is held down while on the art. This cancels the scoll, and brings up the Art or Monado Wheel. Art wheel method: Hold the Neutral Special button until a wheel showing the five arts appears. Highlight an art with the left joystick, and select it by releasing the same button. 5:50 Green Jump: Increases jump height, recovery(up-B) height, and air mobility, allowing for deeper off-stage plays and more aerial control. Decreases defense. Lasts six seconds, recharges in eighteen. Blue Speed: Increases ground movement speed and horizontal air speed, granting Shulk better control over the opponents ground and landing options. Decreases damage output and jump height, while also making Shulk a fast-faller. Lasts eight seconds, recharges in sixteen. Yellow Shield: Increases defense; lowers damage, knockback, and hitstun taken. Decreases overall mobility, and damage and knockback dealt. Lasts six seconds, recharges in sixteen. Purple Buster: Increases damage output while lowering knockback done. Decreases defense; more damage is taken than normal. Lasts for ten seconds, recharges in fourteen. Red Smash: Increases knockback dealt while lowering damage done. Decreases defense; more knockback is taken than normal. Lasts for eight seconds, recharges in sixteen. I hope this video helped you understand how the Monado Arts work in general. They can be a bit confusing and tricky at first, but they are what make Shulk so much fun to play, so continue practicing if you're new and you'll master them in no time. Thanks for watching and see you in the next video. Peace. Jtails' Shulk guide ft. Nicko - • Smash Ultimate: Shulk Competitive Tutorial... DistantKingdom's channel - / @distantkingdom
