The Tri-Valley Annual Mawlid ’24 coincides with the weekend of 12th Rabi ul Awwal 1444. This talk was delivered at the Muslim Community Center - East Bay (MCC East Bay) in Pleasanton, California on September 13, 2024. Ustadh Ali Ataie is a perennial student and researcher who has been involved in interfaith activities for over two decades. He holds a Masters in biblical studies with a focus on New Testament and biblical languages. He also holds a PhD in cultural and historical studies in religion from the Graduate Theological Union. His doctoral work focused on Muslim hermeneutics of biblical texts, especially the Gospel of John. He lives in San Ramon, CA with his wife Roya and three daughters. More Professor Dr. Ali Ataie videos: http://mcceastbay.org/ali-ataie Sidi Ali Ataie studied various Islamic sciences with local San Francisco Bay Area scholars. He is a graduate of the Badr Arabic Language Institute in Hadramawt, Yemen, and studied at the prestigious Dar al-Mustafa, also in Hadramawt, under some of the most eminent scholars in the world. He holds a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley (Oct. 2011), with emphasis upon the New Testament (he is the first Muslim seminarian in the over 150 year history of the school to earn this degree). He is certified in Arabic, Hebrew, and Biblical Greek, and is fluent in Farsi. He also holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Biblical Hermeneutics from the Graduate Theological Union (Oct. 2016) and is a professor of Arabic, Qur'an, and Comparative Theologies at Zaytuna College, the first accredited Muslim College in North America. Education: M.A., Biblical Studies, Graduate Theological Union; Ph.D. Islamic Biblical Hermeneutics, Graduate Theological Union. Ali Ataie was born in Tehran, Iran, and came to the United States in 1979. Brother Ataie earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He is currently a visiting assistant instructor of religious studies at Cal Poly, as well as an instructor of apologetics at the World Alliance for Humanity in Fremont, California. He is a student of sacred knowledge at Zaytuna Institute in Hayward, California, and an author of several books. His organization is dedicated to spreading and defending the truth about Islam in America. His books include "In Defense of Islam: Confronting the Christians with Their Own Scriptures" and "Injil-ul Haq: the True Gospel of Jesus Christ." Ustadh Ali Ataie is a teacher and researcher of the Islamic sciences, specializing in theology and biblical interpretation. He is Adjunct Professor of Islamic Studies and World Religions at both Zaytuna College and the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California. At the latter, Ustadh Ali is working towards a PhD in Islamic Biblical Hermeneutics. His comprehensive knowledge of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic traditions is matched by few. Ustadh Ali is certified in Arabic, Hebrew, and Biblical Greek, and fluent in Farsi. Education Ustadh Ali began his study of Islam under scholars in the Bay Area in the United States of America. He later graduated from the Badr Arabic Language Institute in Hadramawt, Yemen. Blessed to learn from some of the most eminent scholars in the world, he continued his pursuit of knowledge at the prestigious Dar al-Mustafa. He also holds an Undergraduate Degree in Accounting from California Polytechnic State University, and a Masters’ Degree in Biblical Studies from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley.
