【Melodic Rock/AOR】Toys Of Joy (Denmark) - Let It Out 1990~Emily's collection

【Pls look at the top comment first】This song is from an ultra amazing group, Toys Of Joy. It is never too exaggerated to say that Toys Of Joy was one of the best westcoast/pop aor bands from Denmark, even though this name is rarely mentioned today. Anyway, it's never too late to review their terrific works, especially those from the debut. For whoever have heard the debut of Toys Of Joy, entitled "One Of These Days (1990)", this album have won warm response and thumbs-up with superb aor singles and amazing adult contemporary gems. Maybe the album did not cover many rocking elements, but it can hit people in the souls by magic sounds from Nordic pure land. Toys Of Joy was mainly formed by singer Henrik Launbjerg and guitarist Hans H. Egestorp, who were the two founding members from album cover. This album featured a group of musicians on recording. On Danish local TV, their performance featured a full-blown six-piece band. Toys of Joy started back in 1989 under the band name "Don't Mention The War. This was a musical workshop for a bunch of musicians from Elsinore (hometown of west coast music in Denmark). In this workshop, vocalist Henrik Launbjerg played together with guitarist Hans Henrik Egestorp. They started working on some demo material that Henrik Launbjerg had written. Then Henrik got signed to a label. The beginning of Toys of Joy started under the recording process in collaboration. Their first single was called "When The Rain Falls", released in 1990 and was followed up by the album "One Of These Days". Originally, this debut was released in 1990 on vinyl and CD, mainly distributed in Scandinavia. Two years later in 1992, it was reissued, mainly distributed in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. So people can see two different album covers of the debut. Here this cover is designed for the reissued version. There are altogether four reissued versions of this album. In 2007 and 2008, "One Of These Days" were re-released by their original label Olafssongs twice again respectively in Denmark and Germany. It seemed that Germany as well as some German-speaking countries like Austria and Switzerland were the major overseas markets for this album. It's a pity the album didn't get a big commercial success after its releasing. The result from the record market seemed to be mediocre. However, today this album has greatly attracted public attention and has got lots of interest, especially from the international market. So this is an underrated but ultra brilliant Danish treasure for global fans. The album was well written, featuring melodious tunes and high quality production, which is never disappointing among 1980s and 1990s Nordic releases. It is a pleasant masterpiece to hear, bringing daily good mood and blessing for ears like a gentle breeze. West coast music in Denmark was rooted from Elsinore, deeply influenced by west coast music from USA. The beginning of the west coast history from Elsinore was D.C. Army Band with their 1980 debut. In the following years, Danish west coast music became more and more popular as Toys Of Joy should never be forgotten as a representative name. All the songs were written by Henrik Launbjerg and Hans H. Egestorp, arranged and produced by Hans H. Egestorp. Muscially, the album sounds clean and bright, filled with late 1980s and early 1990s vibes. Three singles were entitled on EP releasing, "When The Rain Falls", "Some People" and "Watching Your Moves". When the opening track "Watching Your Moves" kicks in, the music has become a guiding light to show everyone this is gonna be a glorious release. The theme title song "One Of These Days" is a west coast gem, perfect for mood relaxation. "Some People" and "When The Rain Falls" are adult contemporary/soft rock gems, touching heart gently. Here the song "Let It Out" is a hidden masterpiece. Though it was not a major single, it was one of most people's favourites from the album as long as the tunes come out, a typical aor gem with vigour and enthusiasm. It was also released separately with other singles on the EPs. In 1995, Toys Of Joy released their second album "Still Be". After the first 2 releases, they changed the band name to Tois with some single CDs released in 2000 and 2001. Since late 2001, Henrik Launbjerg focused on his solo career. In the following albums, less westcoast and aor taste can be heard. So "One Of These Days" means a lot to loyal fans as I think. If anyone loves Swedish Fingerprints, the name which I think is more well-known among aor fans, and Swedish westcoast/pop aor duo Bounce The Ocean, check out their music and don't forget to let Toys Of Joy become a part of the best Nordic westcoast music troops. #MelodicRock #aor #ToysOfJoy #Westcoast #HenrikLaunbjerg #HansHenrikEgestorp #Elsinore
