I was chatting with Laura Antoniou yesterday and we decided to take a 2 week break for Hella Kvetch episodes. All my other classes and events will be happening. This is just for Hella Kvetch. In lieu of a new episode, I'm sharing our first episode, from March 25th. Omg that feels like ten year ago. Notice that we don't event have any title shots? I didn't know how to use iMovie yet. Behold the super high tech special effects! Laura wrote for the both of us about this break. I'll be honest.... It's rough. I'm feeling those straws piling up on this camel's back. The brittleness is rising to the surface. Taking a break on Hella Kvetch It's August, and normally I like August. It starts with my birthday and ends with looking forward to autumn. There's a meteor shower. It's usually warm enough in our coastal waters to dip my toes in. This August... not like that. Midori and I have been battling depression, anxiety, struggling with how to remain dedicated and focused with a few extra summer challenges no one needed. Our families have experienced the loss of a parent and the illness and severe decline in health in another one. Hoped-for projects have been rejected or postponed. (Again.) We are both deeply feeling the loss of intimate friends - the ones we routinely hug, or cuddle with, or slump against - the ones we see regularly and the ones we see only when we are on the road. Today, on FB I wrote: "I miss all the people I only see at events. I miss being in a tumble of them in a hotel room, sprawled on the bed and chairs and floor playing silly games, drinking and showing off pictures of our cats." And at the same time, we also miss having alone-time. We love our respective spouses. But alone time... it's a thing. Even squandered, there is something necessary in a time when the only noise I hear is what I make, the only distractions something I choose to entertain. (A spouse distraction requires negotiation at least.) So we're gonna take two weeks off in this August heat. Try to manage feelings and emotions in healthy and constructive ways. In the mean time, it would be a great moment to go catch up on episodes you might have missed, or plumb the depths of our Patreon pages for older content. And you are ALWAYS welcome and invited to suggest future content and topics - even prompts! You never know what might sink in and become our next Thing. Questions are also welcome. Always. Weekly release starts April 1st. Yes, April Fools Day. ~ ~ Here's what Laura wrote... Midori and I are starting a webcast - Hella Kvetch! Yep, we are. We recorded something today and will be making more. The plan is to post it on our Patreons first and foremost! 100% of the time, you will get first access to everything we make. And we will keep the option to make videos only for our Patrons as well. Topics will be diverse and the discourse free-wheeling and riddled with our trademark quirks, humor, puns and digressions. It will by no means be limited to sexy shenanigans, but will cover all our interests and passions. There will be plenty of story telling, occasional photo-bombs by other residents in our homes - of the two or four footed variety - and no small amount of kvetching. Let's face it, there's a lot to kvetch about. In addition to all of that, we will chat about the work we are doing now, professional challenges, rewards, roadblocks and sharp turns. And then we might spend an hour talking about favorite cartoons. Or food. It'll be just like you are hanging out with us while we kibbitz on the couch in our socks. I invite my Patrons to send me any questions you'd like for Midori to answer, with or without my input. And if you have suggestions of show themes, let me hear them! We're completely open minded at this point, as it's an experiment. We both want to keep our creative work going and by making a thing together, hope it will also spur us to more and better things.
