You could definitely DIY something like this, but some of the design choices Ryan made I really prefer over a DIY - the sealed flanges prevent leaking while also allowing diffused drainage to the pots below. It's also REALLY sturdy and keeps the pots from moving around or jiggling. Ryan has been an engineer for 20 years, but is in love and obsessed with plants just like I am. This is his first project and it's been really fun to see him put so much effort and time into it, and I really want to see this succeed for him.
