In this video, I head out on a solo camping adventure in my new camper van, travelling deep into the Peak District National Park in search of one of Britain’s most elusive mammals — the mountain hare. What starts as a simple van life photography trip quickly turns into a real winter challenge as the weather dramatically changes and heavy snow sweeps across the moorlands. The conditions are absolutely stunning — blanketed landscapes, blowing snow, and wild winter light — but they also make finding and photographing mountain hares incredibly difficult. Mountain hares are perfectly adapted to these harsh environments, blending seamlessly into snowy surroundings. In these conditions, every step matters. The snow makes stalking slow and noisy, visibility constantly changes, and patience becomes just as important as camera settings. This is real wildlife photography — no guarantees, no easy shots, just time, effort, and respect for the animals. This trip is about more than just getting photos.
