In this new episode, we dive into the lives of Bozeman founders William and Rosa Beall and the pivotal roles they played in the town’s earliest days. We explore William Beall’s early life growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and his journey west to the gold fields of Virginia City in Montana Territory, where he crossed paths with Daniel Rouse and John Bozeman, connections that would lead to the founding of Bozeman. We also share the story of Rosa, who married Abram H. Van Vlierden in 1856 at just 18 years old, then traveled with him to the newly formed town of Bozeman in 1864. After their divorce in 1867, Rosa married William Beall in 1868, cementing a partnership that would shape Bozeman’s early history. As founders and early residents, William and Rosa Beall left an enduring mark on the community, and we are excited to highlight their story and legacy.
