Because officials between the State of Texas and the Federal Government have come to head over disagreements on who has ultimate authority. A recent ruling by the Supreme Court regarding how Texas can conduct border policing has divided the American population. At the center of this disagreement has been Texas’s Operation Lone Star. What is Operation Lone Star? It’s a mobilization of thousands of national guard troops to the border. It’s a joint effort between the Texas Department of Public Safety which controls a large portion of the state law enforcement, and the Texas Military Department, which handles the Army and Air National Guard.
