So it is inside the lower part of your tummy. So your doctor when looks from down below in the OPD can actually look look at the mouth of the womb but not inside it. So if we are suspecting anything inside the womb we need to go inside and see. So a scope it's a thin long scope which is inserted inside the uteran cavity. So one end of the scope has a camera which is connected to a TV monitor outside. So once the scope is inside the entire image from the inside of the womb can be seen on the TV monitor outside. This is what we call as hysteroscopy. It's a daycare procedure that is you do not need to get hospitalized you come in the morning and can go in the evening. It can be done with or without anesthesia. So office hysteroscopes are also available and it can be diagnostic that is just to diagnose what is there inside the womb or it can be operative. Supposing we have any growth or any pop inside the womb can be treated simultaneously at the same sitting with the operative hysteroscope. So hysteroscopy is usually advised for evaluation of postmenopausal bleed in females above 40 years of age who are having period problems to look inside the womb that what is happening why are they having period problem it can also be advised if there is any polyp any growth inside or any myoma which is inside the cavity of the womb which is suitable for hysteroscopic removal. So these are the few indications when hysteroscopy is advised. So as it's a daycare procedure. You come to the hospital you're taken to OT. The hysteroscopy is done it does not involve any cut or any dressings the natural passage through which the period blood comes out or the baby comes out is used and the scope is made to enter through that passage. Once your doctor has had a look inside all the instruments are removed and you're wailed out. Immediate posttop you may have some spotting.
