For 4 days and three nights in September 2025, I rode the Ha Giang Loop—a roughly 230-mile motorbike journey through the mountains and dirt roads of northern Vietnam, reaching all the way to the Chinese border. Each night, we stayed in a different hostel in a remote village or small town. Our group included five clients: four twenty-year-olds from Ireland and Germany, and me, age 72. Each of us rode with an expert motorbike driver from BiBi Tours, a company that specializes in small, well-run groups. The drivers were GREAT, the food was GREAT, the hostels were GREAT, and the vistas were INCREDIBLE. I want to give thanks to my Italian nephew Gianluca, who told me about the Ha Giang Loop, to BiBi Tours, which has an excellent operation, and to Gian, who was both tour leader and my driver throughout the journey. I also want to thank future filmmaker Mohammad Gibran (Indonesia) for his artistic talents and for editing this video. Working with him was a genuine pleasure. Additional thanks go to the musicians and artists Masew, Kaybo, Khoi Vu, Nguyen Loi, MyoMouse, and Dino Sor, whose music provides the soundtrack to my video. Finally, my thanks to Imali. I used eight of her stunning photographs in the final two minutes of this video. I discovered her work on the WallpaperCave website. This is only the third of 30 + videos that I have made PUBLIC. I am doing this to encourage other Black travelers to visit Vietnam and to encourage active seniors to consider the Ha Giang Loop. James Butler
