In this project, I tackled an upgrade for a rotary shear device’s heating chamber used in geological research. These experiments analyze how temperature and relative humidity affect soil properties like volume and strength—critical insights for understanding soil behavior under various environmental conditions. Here’s what I worked on: • Enhanced Design: I modified the chamber to retain heat and humidity, ensuring more accurate and reliable results during testing. • Integrated Sensors: I incorporated two thermometers, a hygrometer, and a connector for controlled evaporation, expanding the device’s capabilities. • Quick Disassembly Feature: To make the system user-friendly, I designed a two-part assembly secured with screws, allowing for easy disassembly and material changes. • Material Choice: Using Delrin, a durable material that withstands temperatures up to 100°C, ensured the additions met the operational requirements. #MechanicalDesign #GeologicalResearch #EngineeringProjects #DelrinMaterial #DesignOptimization #ScientificEquipment
