Hello everybody, Uhhh....sorry to say this guys, but my return to X4 is just a tiny bit delayed, for the moment. :P Anywho, remember how I used to fondly reminisce about how capital ships’ AI used to work, prior to X4? With that in mind, I thought I show you some visual aid, footage of an AI controled destroyer vs xenon capitals, how it used to be. My observations, in regard with how I think it fares in comparison with X4: maybe the useless and dangerous "dancing" our destroyers do in X4, when facing xenon capitals, in their attempt to aim the fixed main batteries, would not be such an issue, if our destroyers were able to last more that 5 seconds in an artillery duel with a xenon capital...and have the fire power to dish some dmg w/o the main batteries. And that makes me think that maybe an increase in fire power and hull and shields for the X4 destroyers, would make our AI controled capitals vs xenon stop being such a one sided affair... Now, I am yet to do my usual 10 destroyers under AI control vs 1 xenon K test in the launched 8.0...but if I see the usual lose 2-3 even with 10 to 1 advantage, maybe is something for Egosoft to consider. Bonus "beefier" destroyers would mean that I don't have to drag around wings of 10 and more around the universe, one, two, three at max would be more that sufficient, less ships, less drain on performance, easier fleet management... I realize that this is mere wishful thinking, and most likely the devs will not be wiling to give up their "baby", the current state destroyers, but I can dream, can I?... And if that is not to be, at least I can enjoy the real deal, from time to time... Other observations: instant xenon to fight, right in the sector you are in...and that was just a protect this station mission, you should see multiple sectors patrols, xenon fleets after xenon fleets....is my heaven. Bonus, no concern for wiping out the "toasters"... With all Egosoft concern about "every ship in the game must be build somewhere...", maybe spawn xenon by mission, should make a return? This way those that want the xenon gone, can do so, by avoiding the missions, and those that want to bring their xenon back from the dead. can also do so. Bonus, those that don't like a faction, can accept a "spawn" mission in their sectors, jump in a xenon fleet, and say "just kidding, lol", abandon the mission, and then let the poor bastards deal with it. :P the split Tiger corvette...you see boys and girls, corvettes used to not be a measly M ship...used to be "fearsome vessels designed for only one purpose: the waging of war." :D unique weapons, like the Phased Array Laser Cannon, accesable only as a drop from the operation Final Fury. Is the precursor of the "modern" beam turret, and cool looking as heck. Well, that's it for now, see you in the next one. :) PS: I'm trying really hard to go back to X4....but, but...well, you saw what I experience atm, is like catnip for a fleet combat addict like yours truly. :P Bonus, my marines are nowhere near ready to board my beloved Odin ATF, the best looking carrier ever. :P So....it will be a while...
