Iran is the heart of ancient history and the birth of many empires. Every city you go to in this country has so much to offer from a rich history. For the visual description - The Persian Empire was huge and extended from Libya and the Black Sea to India and Central Asia and made other empires look tiny by comparison. While being in Shiraz this ancient city called PERSEPOLIS ruins was a must-to-do. The first thing this place reminded me of was Petra in Jordan. But I was also surprised to find out Persepolis was 200 years older than Petra city and maybe the inspiration for Petra was coming from here somehow? Maybe. For nearly two hundred years, Persepolis was the most magnificent and richest of cities, until its destruction by fire in Alexander of Macedonia’s invasion. While being there you can only imagine what these places used to be: all the ceremonies, nations bringing their king gifts, gatherings, and celebrations. How much would it cost to visit a 2500-year-old historical site? The prices are so affordable in Iran that you pay only $3 for the entrance and roam around for 2-3 hours.
