Mustang is one of the most beautiful and adventurous destinations in Nepal, known for its dry landscapes, Himalayan views, ancient culture, and spiritual places. Among its hidden gems, Dhumba Lake is a peaceful and stunning lake located near Jomsom, surrounded by mountains and apple farms. The calm blue water and silent environment make it a must-visit place in Mustang. This vlog shows my 5-day bike journey from Kathmandu to Mustang Dhumba Lake. The total distance from Kathmandu to Dhumba Lake is approximately 460–480 kilometers, depending on the route. The ride was challenging but unforgettable. Some parts of the road were smooth and enjoyable, while other sections were rough, dusty, off-road, and very difficult — especially in the Mustang area. Still, every difficult road came with beautiful views. During this journey, I spent 2 nights in Pokhara, enjoying the lakeside and resting after long rides, and 2 nights in Lower Mustang, experiencing the cold weather, strong wind, and peaceful mountain life. I also visited the holy Muktinath Temple, one of the most important religious sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. Muktinath Temple lies at an altitude of around 3,800 meters (12,467 feet) above sea level. The temple is famous for its 108 water taps and eternal flame, and visiting it was a truly spiritual and emotional experience. Mustang itself lies at a high altitude, with Lower Mustang ranging from 2,700 to 3,800 meters, and the region is often called the “Mini Tibet of Nepal” because of its landscape and culture. This bike trip from Kathmandu to Mustang was full of adventure, struggle, beauty, and peace. If you love bike rides, mountains, difficult roads, and natural beauty, this journey is something you must experience at least once in your life.
