Welcome to one of the most mysterious places on the planet – Cappadocia. We begin our journey in ancient Urgup, a city where centuries-old stories of early Christians escaping Roman persecution are hidden underground. We then travel to Göreme National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the tufa cliffs are dozens of churches and monasteries carved directly into the rock. Of particular note is the Dark Church, where rare 11th-century frescoes have survived the Ottoman wars and centuries of Islamization in the region. Our route passes through Avanos, a city of artisans, where pottery traditions date back to the Hittites – a civilization that disappeared long before the arrival of the Turks. Today, this region remains a symbol of cultural interweaving: from Byzantine domes to minarets, from Christian catacombs to Turkish caravanserais. As we conclude our journey, we head towards the Georgian border, where the Lesser Caucasus Mountains connect East and West, Europe and Asia.
