Live footage broadcast by local media showed the first large-scale rollout of armored vehicles appear in Yangon. Local media suggested the possibility of the internet being cut off on Monday morning,... following an order from the transport and communications ministry. The U.S. embassy in Myanmar has issued a caution to its citizens about military movements as well as the possible internet shutdown. Massive protests continued on Sunday,... with some lining up in front of the UN building in Yangon. "What do we want? We need UN to protect the country in a good way, to protect the democracy. Democracy, that's all we want." According to Reuters, security forces in Myanmar opened fire to disperse protesters at a power plant on Sunday as hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets. It said Myanmar's military rulers were also facing a strike by government workers as part of the anti-coup movement that deposed the civilian government led by Aung San Suu Kyi early this month. Soldiers were reportedly deployed to power plants in the northern state of Kachin, and some suspect the army intends to cut off power.
