We have planted many Supertunias before but we wondered how long it does take a Supertunia Vista "Bubblegum" petunia, from Proven Winners, to grow to relatively "full size" from a 4.5" Qt. container so we planted just one to find out. It would be our "filler and spiller” plant. We needed a "thriller" plant so we decided to plant a Graceful Grasses "Blue Mohawk", also from Proven Winners, in the same container on the same day. It was also purchased as a 4.5" Qt. container plant. The plants receive full sun from about 5:30AM - 3:00PM CDT. This video shows their progress in 2 months from May 28 - July 28. It is definitely possible to have a full looking container without packing so many Supertunias into one container, if you're on a tight (garden) budget and you don't mind the wait. Note: In our area, outside of Chicago, Illinois Zone 5, a 4.5" Qt. Proven Winners annual container retails for $4.98 USD each so this simple container with just two plants is about $10 USD. Enjoy!
