Shropshire's highest point (i.e. the County Top) is Abdon Burf at 540 m. The Brown Clee Hill also has a lower top (at 510 m) called 'Clee Burf'. This is a walk through private land owned by the Burwarton Estate (via permissive paths). There are large areas of the hillside covered with coniferous plantations. At the top there is evidence of the mining which was abandoned back in the 1930/40's. There is good parking at the bottom, but the path can be muddy in places, especially in the winter. If it has rained recently, take wellies not walking boots. It is a moderately popular with walkers, especially at the weekends, but how many people who have reached the toposcope have mistakenly thought they were at the top? The true top is 1 m higher and is actually 120 metres to the north, on the other side of the masts, on a hillock covered in heather.
