Berchtesgaden is a place at the very southernmost border of Germany. It takes you only some minutes and you end up in Salzburg, Austria. But, where to stay and where to sleep when going on vacation to Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. Especially, in summer, if you plan to go on a last minute trip there it's kind of difficult to find some good rooms for two or three nights. We finally got stuck to the website of the 'Explorer Hotel' and were very surprised of it. The brand 'Explorer Hotel' stands for a young, dynamic and sportive target group as well as for young families being on holidays for hiking and enjoying the nature. It totally reminded me of the 'Harry's Home' Hotel branch - but that's certainly the new generation of offering a simple pragmatic style of living combined with a cozy and high class feeling - and that is all for absolutely affordable prices. I immediately felt at home in the Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden. So, in the meanwhile the company is spreading itself not just in the area of South Germany, but also in Austria. The hotel concept is ideal for hikers or ski and snowboard fanatics in winter. For me the total highlight was the breakfast - normally, I am used to the standard buffet where you gathering some ingredients for your morning croissant and your cereals. They expanded the whole thing because here you got a stove and on that stove your prepare your own scrambled eggs, fried eggs or whatever you like. There are enough pans for all those who wanna be a morning cook. Some small boxes offer you all the stuff you need for cooking, e. g. eggs, tomatoes, ham, salt and pepper, onions and so on. All you need to know, is to watch out that your happy morning meal doesn't overcook or overfry in your pan.
