I get more comments asking for quiet ride alongs, so here is another without music. This is a nice quiet trail, but has very limited facilities along the way which probably is the reason we saw so few riders. The trailhead in Kokomo has portable facilities, but to get water or food, you have to ride into town. The same goes for the Rochester trailhead at the northern end of the trail. The town of Peru lies close to the middle of the trail and it has several fast food chains, convenience stores and even a Kroger very near the trail itself. This is your only chance for food right along the trail. Unfortunately the rail trail is broken in Peru and you must take to the streets for several miles and a few side roads on the other side of town in order to get back to the rail trail section that takes you to Rochester. In the small town of Denver, there is a 50's era grocery store about a block and a half from the trail where you can get some needed food or water, if necessary. The trailhead in Rochester at the edge of town is just a parking lot with portable facilities, no water or food establishments in sight. You have to ride into town to find that. The total length of the ride up and back was about 85 miles. I'm glad we can say we rode the entire length of the trail. We can check this one off our to-do list. :)
