These are some of my recollections and video from Tuesday, September 11, 2001 while working at WWMT Channel 3, the CBS affiliate in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was a typical morning up until the 8:55 a.m. local news cut in. Nobody at the station realized the significance of the events until United Airlines Flight 175 crashed directly into the World Trade Center LIVE on national television just after 9 a.m. The rest is history. Millions of personal stories from far and wide transpired throughout the United States and globally this day as al-Qaeda terrorist hijackers gained control of four American and United Airlines planes of which resulted in the deadliest attack in global history resulting in 2,996 deaths. Information on 9/11/2001 can be accessed here: https://www.911memorial.org/911-faqs For this video I have edited together 57 minutes of mostly uncut national and local West Michigan television coverage from the hours of videotape I recorded over a 48 hour period both at WWMT and later when back at my Kalamazoo apartment.
