ABOUT THE BEATTY LECTURE: October 2024. Cónal received The World Cultural Council [ WCC Switzerland] GOLD MEDAL The Award for Arts [The World Cultural Council comprised 240 international academics including 40 nobel laureates]. As part of the WCC Celebrations Cónal was Invited to present the BEATTY LECTURE 2024 at McGill University [ 2024 marked 70 years of the BEATTY LECTURE] NOTE:From the Nobel to the Pulitzer, from the Kremlin to Carnegie Hall, THE BEATTY LECTURE has presented a wide and diverse range of voices including, President of Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa. Established in 1952, the Beatty Lecture is McGill Universities most distinguished and endowed lectureship. The Beatty Lecture aims to foster the exchange of ideas by bringing the world’s leading thinkers to McGill University. The 2024 Beatty Lecture is presented in partnership with the World Cultural Council (WCC). Since 1984, the WCC has held an annual award ceremony in a different university around the world, granting prizes to outstanding scientists, educators, and artists whose remarkable work in their fields have contributed positively to the cultural enrichment of humankind. The 2024 Albert Einstein World Award of Science will be bestowed on Eske Willerslev The 2024 Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts will be bestowed on Cónal Creedon. The 2024 Lecture and discussion will be moderated by Nahlah Ayed, host of the Canadian Broadcasting Company’s (CBC) Radio 1 program, Ideas. Prior to the lecture, R+I will host a meet-and-greet for the lecturers with McGill and WCC dignitaries. Cónal Creedon received the World Cultural Council Leonardo Da Vinci Award for Arts.
