The presentation will showcase how to embed case studies into a myriad of different courses (e.g., interpersonal communication, group communication, organizational communication, public relations, persuasion, nonverbal communication, risk and crisis communication). We will discuss how and why the case study works, best practices for employing the case study into the course's curriculum, ways of designing a syllabus around the case study itself, and how to fuse such variables as outside readings, in-class lecture, in-class discussion, and group work. In so doing, Corey will explain, based on personal experience, what has worked in the past and what has not worked. He will explain how to best choose case studies, how to link the case study approach to the course itself, and strategies for including the case study into the course's learning goals and the student's learning outcomes.
