Four Star Playhouse was an anthology series with Dick Powell, David Niven, et al appearing in different sorts of stories. It ran for several years and the theme (likely by Herschel Burke Gilbert) made for a classy signature tune. Among the various episodes were several with Dick Powell playing Dante, a reformed gambler trying to run his night club and stay away from the law. The character was popular enough to spin off into a series, where Howard Duff took over the lead. It wasn't popular enough to survive the Nielsen wars and it bowed out after one season. Leith Stevens was a prolific Hollywood composer; for a while he specialized in sci-fi films, with 'War of the Worlds' the most noteworthy. He shows his jazzy side in the theme for 'Dante'.
