Second Sunday of Lent Year A Reflection 1R Gen 12:1-4 Ps. 32 2R 2Tim 1:8-10 GR Mat 17:1-9 The Beloved Son, Who Enjoy God's Favor; We Must Listen To Him The transfiguration of Jesus revealed the Divinity of Jesus. Peter, James, and John were chosen to witness the transfiguration of the Lord; this reveal to them that Jesus' way leads to the Cross and in the Cross lies the glory of his Resurrection. This was to prepare the disciples from the scandal of the cross . Moses and Elijah represent the Law and the Prophets. Both the Law and the Prophets bear witness to Jesus, but now Jesus fulfills them and surpasses them. He is the new law giver and the new prophet. The Father's voice from the cloud recalls Christ's baptism. The Father invites us to recognise in Jesus his beloved son to whom we must listen. Our faith is challenged when we, too, in the Eucharistic Celebration, are invited to listen to the risen Lord. As we use this Lenten season to prepare for Easter, we must listen to God's call in Christ to repentance, forgiveness, and a life of holiness . "It is wonderful for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." We must always seek the presence of God. For Abraham, it must have been extremely difficult for him to cut himself off from his native land, his tribe and his clan for an unknown land. The call to be true Christian this Lenten season and all through our lives is very challenging; but like our father in faith, we can still make it to heaven. We like Peter and Abraham, naturally will not want to move away from our comfort zone, but God is continually urging and calling us at this Lenten season to follow our transfigured Lord in faith, prayers and charity, putting our trust in him and bearing his hardships for the sake of the Good News he has brought to us. Some of us have made this world our home and have forgotten that heaven is our true Homeland. To heaven, we must go! May God great us the grace, to move out of our comfort zones to help others this season and always, through Christ Our Lord. Amen
