A few years ago I went to Ukraine with a group of fellow Jewish students. One of the first places we visited was Babi Yar. I wrote this piece immediately afterwards. Probably on the following bus ride. The experience was too emotional to go unwritten for very long. I called it "Where the Jews were Shot." A painful name and, admittedly, on the nose. But how else does one write about a massacre if not directly? Jews were shot. 33,000 of them. I was there, where it happened, nearly eighty years later. I only recently recorded this memory and put it to footage and music. I hope you got out of it what I put into it. Thank you for watching.
