We made the trip to Top-Flight Hunting Preserve in Columbus, Texas, just an hour west of Houston, for a combination upland bird hunt, dove hunt, and a night at the lodge and it was an incredible experience. Our guide Mason put us on birds and ran an awesome team of dogs: • Waylon and Joe, two talented retrievers with a nose for birds and steady retrieves. • Hot Dog and Siri, pointers full of drive, style, and energy in the field. We hunted pheasant, quail, and chukar across Top-Flight’s 400 acres of beautiful pasture land, then wrapped up the day grilling fresh birds, catching bass from the lodge pond, and shooting a little skeet.
