Hello friends 🌱, This summer has been a complicated one for me. On the one hand, there’s the joy: no bundling up, swimming in the Great Lake, gardens in their full glory. On the other hand, the heat and drought have weighed heavily—the skies cloudless, the sun relentless, and many of my beloved trees and seedlings have not survived the dry. But even in loss, there is wonder. I’m amazed by the shrubs and perennials that are still thriving. I’m humbled by those plants that appear dead now, yet will return next spring. Nature, as always, shows resilience. As a potter, I know something about disappointment. Kiln loads lost. Pieces broken or never firing correctly. Yet with each disappointment comes an invitation—an opportunity to change, to grow, to let go. I will plant new trees. I will get back on the wheel. I will keep going. This too shall pass. In today’s video: I make little pottery birds 🎨 I finish sewing a new winter coat I share how I’m replanning my garden spaces, choosing more drought-tolerant/native plants, building soil, mulching deeply 👗 Clothes & Pattern Credits Here are the clothing patterns I’m wearing in the video: Sarasota Top — Breaking the Pattern Maeve Skirt — True Bias Ruffle Shorts — Self-drafted (based on Bebekins / Rowan shorts) Bellbird Blouse — Common Stitch Namaste Coat — Coralie Bijasson Children’s patterns from Lowland Kids and Tiny Design Co. Fabrics from: Blackbird Fabric, Simplifi Fabric, and Pure Envy Linen. 💬 I’d Love to Hear From You Have you experienced disappointment lately—big or small? How have you responded?
