Group of Nihangs chop off policeman’s arm in Punjab when asked to show curfew passes

A group of four to five Nihangs (Sikhs armed with traditional weapons and dressed in loose blue top) allegedly chopped off an Assistant Sub Inspector’s (ASI) arm and injured two cops after they were asked to present their curfew passes at Patiala in Punjab during COVID-19 lockdown. The Sikhs were travelling in a vehicle and the Mandi Board officials asked to stop them at a vegetable market at around 6:15 am. They crashed the vehicle against the gate and barricades that were put up. The ASI was rushed to the Rajindra hospital where from he was referred to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh.
