The Beauty of Kurosawa's Ran

Of all the Kurosawa movies I've seen, Ran has stuck out to me specially, a big reason for which being its incredible visuals and colour grading that pops out of the screen in brilliant hues. With this edit, I tried to depict how Kurosawa deftly uses movement and action in all his shots, and how there is always something kinetic about his shots. It's one of the most beautiful movies I've seen, and its many cinematic battles continue to stay in my head. This is drama at its finest. I had no idea what song to use for the longest time, and nothing seemed to fit the grandeur of Ran. That changed when I heard Hirasawa Susumu's legendary works, and weirdly, it fit in my head. I still wasn't sure it would work, but the sheer dramatic nature of his songs made the match feel perfect in my head. Enjoy this video.
