The Tower

A little over a year ago, I started creation on a dance piece, under the mentorship of my friend and fellow hoop devotee, Kathleen Doherty. It took me 9 months to choreograph 2.5 minutes of floor work. Every. Single. Moment. Of this piece is on purpose, and I could talk at length about each one's imperative (but don't worry, I won't). I had no idea how hard it would be, or how rewarding this scant few minutes would feel once it was finished. . . I made it to assimilate an experience that was too big for my body- a storm that I couldn't encapsulate on the fury of an aerial hoop...I needed to feel the ground again, and the bite of a wood floor. I will let it speak for itself, as much as the ole IG will let me which is about 60 seconds. At the very least, it is honest. And for whatever it's worth, I came to tell the truth. . .
