PHOENIX, Ariz., Mar. 11, 2026 (KNN) – Phoenix police attempted to stop a black pickup truck near Interstate 17 and Indian School Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect refused to yield and fled from officers. Officers did not pursue and initially lost sight of the vehicle. Officers passed the vehicle description to the surrounding precincts and neighboring agencies. A short time later, an officer spotted the truck near 63rd Avenue and McDowell Road. Officers maintained a distant visual on the vehicle and requested assistance from the Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau and the Phoenix Police Air Unit. With the Tactical Support Bureau and air resources in place, a second traffic stop was attempted. The suspect refused to yield and fled from officers. A tactical surveillance operation was initiated, allowing the Phoenix police helicopter to track the vehicle from above while unmarked Tactical Support Bureau units followed at a distance, out of the suspect’s line of sight. The suspect led officers through various areas of West Phoenix and Laveen. A Tactical Support Bureau unit was able to successfully stop the suspect with a Grappler Police Bumper at the intersection of 67th Avenue and Buckeye Road. With the vehicle stopped, officers initiated a high-risk traffic stop. A male driver and a male passenger were ordered out of the truck at gunpoint. Both were taken into custody without incident. ----------------------------------------------------- Detailed story information and video licensing requests can be found by visiting https://keynews.tv.
