Should you do a PhD? Is it worth doing a Doctorate? Why do Doctoral research? VLOG 98

I am often asked by students and friends whether they should invest the time, effort and money in doing a PhD. Of course the answer to that question is quite subjective. Why do you feel that you need to do Doctoral studies? In this answer I discuss this question and offer one or two insights that might help you if you are considering undertaking Doctoral research. I will be releasing a few videos in this series - the next one will be on writing a research proposal. We will also consider some tips for conducting your research, writing your dissertation / thesis, and we will eventually get to subjects like defending your thesis and publishing your academic work. These videos are intended mainly for my own students. They address some of the frequently asked questions they raise. However, others may find them helpful.
