In this lecture we’ll continue our discussion of surface analysis in ArcGIS Pro, looking at solar insolation, hillshades and landscape curvature, and reviewing several common ways to analyze them. We will see how solar insolation often captures everything we are hoping for with Aspect, and usually better. We'll discuss how hillshades are often used simply for aesthetic purposes, and go over the Swiss Method for making them even more aesthetically interesting. We will also discuss the various types of curvature offered by the ArcGIS Pro Surface Parameters tool, and how these curvatures differ from the original Curvature tool. This lecture will go over what these methods do conceptually, and then we'll try them out in the lab exercises. Note: This is a revision of an earlier video, corrected to fix some errors in the MDOW equation. This lecture is one of a series of 4 that explore basic raster analysis and surface analysis in ArcGIS Pro.
