What a session! The pinkies were absolutely firing on the Mornington Peninsula. We ended up keeping 12 solid fish between us, plus a beautiful whiting to finish the night off. The bite was consistent from the moment we set the baits, with light winds early and clean water, and things really switched on once the wind picked up and stirred everything around. For gear, we ran 5/0 Snapper Snatchers on the 12-foot surf rods and 1/0 Whiting Snatchers on the smaller rods. During daylight hour's the pilchards did all the work, but once the sun dropped, squid became the standout bait and completely took over. We fished through two hours of the run-in tide and two hours of the run-out, with the run-out tide being easily the most productive. When the bite window opened, it happened fast, with rods loading up one after another on solid pinkies. It was classic Port Phillip Bay fishing at its best. Plenty of chaos, plenty of laughs, and an awesome feed to take home at the end of it. If you’re enjoying these fishing missions, make sure you’re subbed. Heaps more coming soon, including more pinky sessions, whiting fishing, Murray Cod sessions and plenty of kayak fishing when the weather lines up. Drop a comment if you want a breakdown of the exact rigs, setup, or approach we used tonight. Cheers! 🎣
