MRT = Mechanical Run test FAT = Factory acceptance test SAT = Site acceptance test In oil and gas industries ( Process industries ) equipment are classified under two broad classifications: static equipment and rotating equipment. Rotating equipment comprise pumps, compressors, turbines, Centrifuge , Agitators , Gear Box , engine etc & static equipment comprise Reactors , Column , other Pressure vessels, boilers, furnaces, heat ex changers, valves, piping and others. Mechanical Run test MRT is for rotating equipment. when Govt or any Business house, decides , to build a refinery, petrochemical or Fertilizer, Process Industries ,after engineering, company start placing Purchase orders for various equipment to various equipment manufacturer. Most of the equipment are not readily available & are tailor made. Depending on complexity of equip it takes 2 to 3 years to manufacture such equipment. When equipment is ready vendor, issue Inspection call to Customer for inspection & ensuring performance of equipment. Ensuring performance of equipment as per purchase order is known as MRT. ITP- Inspection and Testing Plan ..
