Short Summary Would you like to help us finish our Scottish Slasher Short? 'Forest of Flesh' is the latest offering from Glasgow-based independent film production company 'Stray Productions', in collaboration with Edinburgh-based’ Occult Productions’. The story follows a group of friends who embark on a camping trip to celebrate Eleanor's birthday. However, as the friends are slowly stalked and brutally butchered, can any of them be trusted? Stray Productions is a Glasgow-based production company run by Arla Piacentini and Heather M. Brown. Having studied at Vancouver and Brighton Film Schools respectively, between them they have over 20 years of experience in the industry, including short and feature films, and have separately enjoyed success on the festival circuit. Our last short film 'Hold Me Till The End is complete and currently being submitted to film festivals for the 2022 season, and our previous effort 'Over Again' is available for public viewing on our official online channels. Writer and director Arla Piacentini have plenty of experience in the film industry. She trained at The Vancouver Film School and has directed several shorts as well as screened her first feature 'Murphy's Birthday' in cinemas. Producer Heather M. Brown is a graduate of The Brighton Film School who has worked on many successful projects, including the Amazon Prime series 'A True Mismatch' and the award-winning short film 'Authentic'. She is excited to finally be working in her favorite genre - horror! Our talented team of makeup artists led by Amanda Lee Malcolm has had a lot of fun working with realistic fake blood and prosthetics to create the perfect look for all characters, victims, and survivors alike! Our Director of Photography, Lewis Bowden is the founder of ‘Occult Productions’ and the driving force behind the team. His passion for imagery came from His background in rollerblading where he first learned to shoot photos and video. His passion grew and it gave him more opportunities to skate and shoot. After a few years of ongoing injuries, Lewis decided to take a step back from blading and turned his full attention to building and growing Occult as a platform to develop from creatively. What We Need & What You Get We have already completed 90% of principal photography and we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved on a very limited budget. However, we do require further funds in order to successfully finish filming. As you can tell from our trailer, we currently have no dialogue currently. This is due to the silent generator we booked being out of commission. It means that we need funds in order to clean up the audio files and undertake ADR where necessary. The extra funds will go towards another day of renting the equipment required, makeup and prosthetics, set design, feeding our hardworking cast and crew, and hiring a van to transport everything to our top-secret outdoor location safely. In return, we are offering some amazing perks, including a digital copy of the finished film and seeing your name in the end credits. Any extra funds we receive that are not used towards production costs will be put towards festival submission fees to ensure that as large an audience as possible has the opportunity to see the final film and ensure the hard work of the cast and crew is recognized. The Impact The film will be submitted to various festivals throughout the world, before being made available to the general public. Heather and Arla are huge fans of 80's horror and hope 'Forest Of Flesh' will stand as a loving homage to the films of that generation. The hope is to make a fun, thrilling slasher film that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats and guessing till the end. Risks & Challenges We are shooting outside in Scotland. The risk of inclement weather is always a concern. However, with the extra funds raised, we will be able to provide hot drinks, blankets, and hot water bottles for the cast and crew in order to keep them warm throughout the night. Another challenge we face is that we MUST complete filming by the end of September, as we will be entering Autumn and the forest colors will begin to change.
