Attend LGBT Events and Pride Festivals Many Southern cities host Pride events and LGBT festivals where you can meet other women in a supportive environment. In the South, check out events in cities like Atlanta, Nashville, Charleston, and New Orleans. 2 Join Lesbian or LGBTQ+ Meetups (or start one!) Meetup is a free app you download. Fill out your interests, let it make suggestions of groups for you to join, or search out more on your own! Look for groups that cater specifically to lesbians or the broader LGBTQ+ community. Many groups host regular social events, hikes, book clubs, and more. 3. Go to LGBT-Friendly Bars and Clubs While dedicated lesbian bars may be scarce in the South, many LGBT-friendly bars host women’s nights or events that cater to lesbians, like My Sister's Room or Heretic in Atlanta or Club South 29 in Spartanburg. 4. Participate in Sports Leagues Join an LGBT sports league, like a softball or roller derby team. These groups offer a great way to meet new people in a relaxed, fun setting. Charleston lesbians Meetup holds kickball. Don't forget Pickleball, y’all! 5. Use Dating Apps and Sites Apps like Hinge, HER, Lex, and OkCupid have filters for finding other lesbians. I would have never known if I hadn’t just googled and read their site. BE CURIOUS 9. ASK YOUR Friends to introduce you to other singles! Networking through trusted connections can help you meet people in a comfortable environment. 10. Join Online Lesbian Groups Facebook and Reddit have active lesbian communities where people often post about events or meetups. Consider joining groups like “Lesbians in the South” or local city-specific groups. Others: Just Lesbians of NC & SC, Just SINGLE Lesbians of NC & SC (CIS lesbians only), DOWN SOUTH LESBIANS -Women of color/75 mi radius of ATL. TikTok has a fantastic interactive lesbian community. In Tik Tok, search the hashtags #wlw #lesbiansoftiktok #lesbiansover40 etc. Google search, Look at FB groups, Instagram, TikTok—IDC how OLD you think you are—these are TOOLS. These are RESOURCES.
