Kaikoura Albatross Encounter

The Albatross Encounter in Kaikoura is an absolute must for bird lovers! Just a few minutes boat ride south of Kaikoura and many seabirds including Albatross flock towards you. This video includes my favourite clips from the trip featuring 4 species of Albatross! (Wandering Albatross, Southern Royal Albatross, Salvin's Albatross, White-Capped Albatross) as well other seabirds such as the Giant Petrel and the Cape Petrel. It's hard to note the differences between the Royal and Wandering Albatross but if you look closely you'll notice the Southern Royal Albatross tends to have a larger hump on its back and it's wing are fully covered in black whilst the Wandering Albatross has a cutting edge. Some Wandering Albatross also have a spot of pink on the back of their neck and their beaks tend to be pinker too. This was such a fun trip, hope you enjoy!
