The brainchild of Alec Poole and Fred Gallagher, the Tour Brittannia was born as a recreation of the old Tour of Britain which was a mixture of rallying and circuit racing. Running in September 2005, this new four-day event catered for pre-1976 cars and included races, tarmac stages and hillclimbs. With competitors enetered in competition and touring-regularity sections, results were based on an index factor, allowing all crews—irrespective of the age and engine capacity of their cars—to fight for victory and the event’s premier trophy.
