So the Prime Minister tried to pass a bill to make it so. On the second reading 60 Conservative MPs rebelled, voting against the government, with deputy party chairs Lee Anderson and Brendan Clarke-Smith resigning their posts in order to do so. Eventually on the third reading the bill passed. But Rishi Sunak has tested his party to the limits. Is this the bill he has chosen to die on? Will the Rwanda bill ultimately tear the tories apart?
