University of Michigan - The Department of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology

The interdisciplinary research programs in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan employ powerful in vivo and in vitro model systems, molecular genetic tools, sophisticated biochemistry and microscopy techniques. They uncover fundamental mechanisms that control cell behavior at all stages of life: from cell birth and cell division, the maintenance of cellular integrity and trafficking of cell components, interactions with the internal and external environment, responses to stress, and finally aging and cell death.
